The beat, the hook line “Put me in, coach!” and the crack of the bat make this one of the best baseball rock and roll songs ever…
“Centerfield” by John Fogerty, this communicator’s choice as the #5 Baseball Record ever, was the B side of “Rock And Roll Girls.” It reached #44 in 1985.
There’s at least four chapters in John Fogerty’s celebrated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame career. There was the 60’s years with the Golliwogs, then roughly 1968-72 with Creedence Clearwater Revival and solo hit comebacks in the mid-70’s and mid-80’s.
For many years, Fogerty refused to be interviewed and refused to perform his CCR hits in concert. In his defense, he’s gone through a lot. His brother, Tom, died of AIDS in 1990 and there were at least two court cases, including one he’d win with the Supreme Court.
