Chuck Barris, who was most famous for hosting the TV show “The Gong Show” but also wrote a summer classic hit, died Tuesday (3/22/17) of natural causes. According to ABC7 TV of Los Angeles, he was 87. Initial reports of his passing differ as to where he died. Some said he was living in New York while others said he was living in Palisades, California.

In addition to “The Gong Show,” Barris also created “The Newlywed Game” and “The Dating Game.” He also wrote the book “Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind,” which would later be turned into a movie directed by George Clooney.
