TODAY IN POP MUSIC HISTORY–A CLASSIC DOO-WOP SONG DEBUTS

From Rockin Robin:

Through rock and roll music’s first 10 years or so (1954-1964), there was plenty of doo-wop music.

What’s doo-wop music? It’s a combination of great vocals and often nonsensical lyrics. Both were there this day in 1963 when this record debuted…

“Puddin’ N’ Tain (Ask Me Again, I’ll Tell You The Same)” was the only hit the Alley Cats ever had, meaning they were truly a One-Hit Wonder act. The legendary Phil Spector produced the Alley Cats, but only for this record. Apparently Phil had other projects to tend to.
Besides, the Alley Cats were a spin off of another doo-wop group, the Untouchables, who had this record in 1960…

The Untouchables also had this hit in 1962
